Teaching Advanced CAD At Palomar College

I really enjoy teaching at Palomar College San Marcos, CA. I teach Basic and then Advance SolidWorks each school year. So I get to spend the majority of a whole year with my students, watching them advance their skills tremendously. When the "light bulb" in their head goes off and they really get 3D CAD, man that is so cool! Students have great ideas and energy!

They put in a lot of hard work. But I like to make it fun too. So sometimes I send out a Class Agenda like this:

From Devon Sowell Agenda 03-26-2015

Hello CAD Power Users-

Great class meeting last Tuesday, everyone is improving their CAD skills and SolidWorks Super Duper Powers faster than I can teach it, which is good!

I have more Drawings to hand out for the 2 Ton Press Project. The Foot Drawing is 12 sheets, sorry, sorta.

Attention all inhabitants of CAD Planet:

At 6:45pm tonight there will be a Design Review Meeting of the 2 Ton Press Project. The party of the first party will ask for suggestions to improve the design of the Table on the 2 Ton Press thingamabob. All suggestions will be resented. The results will be a Change Order handed down from up above called Revision 37 ad nauseam.

Next we will enter the Worm Hole called "Surfacing" We may not survive, but the Spline Overlord may provide a Configuration that will protect us.

Finally we'll end the class by adding 27 Layers to an AutoCAD drawing and naming each Layer after a character from the DC or Marvel Universe, your choice.

Cheers,
Devon Sowell
